Yap is the westernmost of four states that comprise the Federarted States of Micronesia. The many islands and atolls that make up Yap State stretch hundreds of miles across the open Pacific. Yap is 500 miles southwest of Guam, 300 miles northeast of the Republic of Palau, and 800 miles east of the Philippines.
