Ulithi Adventure LodgeExperience the outer islands of Yap with full services
Ulithi is a wild and stunning place. As the closest land mass to Challenger Deep (the deepest spot on the planet), it is incredibly pristine, remote, and beautiful. The atoll consists of 40+ islands in a 60 mile ring with over 200 miles of reef. Ulithi surrounds the 4th largest lagoon in the world and served as a major US anchorage during WW II. There are 4 inhabited islands and the lodge is located on the island of Falalop, just outside the lagoon. Each island is owned by a family (clan) and special permission is required to visit the incredible islands of the atoll.
You will climb aboard a nine seat Queen Air operated by Pacific Mission Aviation (email@example.com) out of Yap for an exciting 45 minute flight to the lodge. Bring your best camera, something to wear and a big grin, because you will be smiling as you experience this great adventure. Our on-island Manager, John Rulmal Jr, will meet you on the tarmac and escort you to the lodge for a cold refreshment and check in. Once acclimated, you can meet with our staff to discuss your visit. Our excursions can be planned in order to accommodate your needs and the time you have allotted for the day. We also understand if you want to just relax and pass the time as you see fit.
The lodge offers clean and comfortable rooms with reasonable prices and has a guest house feel. Our ten rooms consist of six ocean facing and four garden view. Each room is equipped with a twin bed, a writing desk, a sink, bathroom, wardrobe, and a tiled shower as well as an A/C and ceiling fan. Because of the proximity to extreme depths, the environment is perfect for large pelagics, the illusive Giant Trevally, mantas, and huge green turtles. Ulithi is thought to be the largest green turtle rookery in Micronesia and during season it’s not uncommon to see 50 or so of these 600lb creatures during a night excursion to the Crab and Turtle islands. Whether you wish to fish for a few hours or reserve a week, the lodge will arrange for a boat, captain, and mate (additional cost, payable direct), just let us know ahead of time.
